Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then found numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.
An important political figure commented the incident made him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
